The best beach in Zealand (Sjælland) is Hornbæk with very nice water and dunes. It is very popular during summer time but there is plenty of space at the beach.
Very close to our home you will find the beach Bellevue, it is even in bike distance, but it might be a bit tough to get back home. (You have to “climb” a steep road back:-))
Denmark is full of very good beaches so please take a look at the link above to get inspired. Especially in Jutland at the west coast you will find some of the must stunning beaches in Denmark/Europe.

Some of the restaurants we can recommend is:
Sticks and sushi in Lyngby (same building as Magasin) is the best sushi restaurant in town. It is a bit expensive but worth every dime. They also do takeaway and delivery to the door.
Aji, has running sushi, a belt transporting the sushi around and the have an “all you can eat” concept. It is priced a bit cheaper than sticks and sushi, and the kids love it. Remember to order a table at he belt if you want to pick the sushi yourself. You can also order Chinese dishes as part of the menu.
Raadvad kro is located in a small and very nice area called Rådvad, a small “village” in the woods of the dear park. Worth a visit both for cafe latte, lunch and for dinner.
Big Mamma’s pizza house, is a good Italian restaurant. Remember to order a table.
Lyngby Shawarma House, very, very good shawarma, also the chicken one, located in the “Lyngby Kultur Center”.
2800 Kongens Lyngby
Meyers i Lyngby
is a newly opened (2013) “food temple” with restaurant, take away, wine bar, home roasted coffee open fire-oven and cooking school. Claus Meyer is the founder and owner of this nice place and is also partly owner of the (former) worlds best restaurant, Noma in Copenhagen.
Lyngby Storcenter. In Lyngby Storcenter (shopping mall) can you get almost everything. Next to this you will find Magasin (Lyngby) and close by Johannes Fog (Fog Bolig & Designhus).
Around the city center you will find several other specialty stores in clothes, shoes, food, etc, etc.
For daily groceries you can use
Netto, cheap and good: Find Netto.
Other places are: SuperBrugsen, Føtex in Lyngby Storcenter, Super Best.
The best in town is Lagkagehuset. Try their Ciabatta flûte, Drømmekage (cake), Christianshavnertærte (cake). They also make excellent “rugbrød”. We know the bakery from our time in Christianshavn as well.
Another good one is Emmery’s.
Many of the larger supermarkets has a bakery store, where you can get OK bread but not compared to the two other bakeries.
